Dr. William Stephenson Releases His Poetic Crafts That Will Lift Every Spirit

San Diego, California – WEBWIRE

“Sunrises and Sunsets: A Daily Journey of Renewal, Redemption, and Rejoicing” is a poetic piece from the author’s perspective of self-reflection and recollection. A collection of poems that is full of wisdom and encouragement. “This award-winning book intersperses in the daily devotions three stories of persons who were able to discover a hope that, in spite of the challenges they were facing, gave them a new vision of meaning and purpose.”

Traditionally, a poem is a rhythmical composition, expressing experiences, ideas, or emotions in a style more concentrated, imaginative, and powerful than that of ordinary speech or prose. Reading out loud of poetry can be more effective in touching one’s soul. This devotional book has four components; the first is a collection of poems and prayers that are dedicated to Beginnings. The second is to close or end each day with an attitude of hope, the third one is to begin your own journey with sunrises and sunsets, and lastly, the true stories of persons who applied this attitude of beginnings and endings. The author emphasizes enlightenment to every difficulty and struggles to face.

May this inspiring book will leave us a mark and a feeling of wanting more and knowing more about the beauty of life.

“I wish you well on this journey. Set aside your opinions about your writing. Just put pen to paper and leave the judgments of what you write to the ages.” –Bill Stephenson

About The Author

Dr. Stephenson’s career as a counselor to persons diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, as well as those struggling with complicated grief was successful because of his commitment to the whole person which included the development and equipping of a care team of people committed to the welfare of the whole person. This concept, which was part of his doctoral dissertation, was developed in a special cancer hospital in Playas de Tijuana when he created a “death ward” dedicated to people who would die in the facility and had traveled to this facility from all over the world.

In his private practice of twenty-seven years, most of the more than 400 clients he provided this care for were children and youth who were facing a life expectancy of six months or less. This care included a commitment to the client’s family and significant others for at least one year after their death.

He has participated in the establishment of four hospices, including the former Hospice of San Diego. During the AIDS crisis he developed and led a special counseling program for one of the largest AIDS hospices located in Seattle.

When Dr. Stephenson ended his private practice, he was asked to continue his work with the largest insurance company in the United States investigating sentinel events such as suicides and suicide attempts all over the United States. He was also part of a specially trained team of mental health professionals equipped to assist a community that had experienced a traumatic event such as a mass shooting.

Now retired he continues to consult, teach and speak on behalf of those who struggle with this drama of dying. He has also written four books related to his work with loss and grief: A Gift to Self , Conversations , and Sunrises and Sunsets, and his fourth book, A New Way to Hope has received six critical awards. His next book, Teachable Moments , will be out early next year. He and his wife, Carol, live in San Diego, California.
