Encouraging Determination and Perseverance to Children

There are times where even the most energetic and lively of children can have moments of sadness brought upon by the inability to do what they set their hearts on, giving them a bit of motivation is typically easier when you tell it in a way that catches their attention such as through the use of fables featuring adorable characters.

“Acro Bat” is a book about a bat named Acro who struggles to overcome his daytime blindness to join a competition to showcase his flying skills. He resolves to train every day in order to overcome his blindness and compete with the other animals during the day. Bats, as you may know, are blind during the day and rely on echolocation to navigate their environment. Nonetheless, Acro tries and tries again to reach his goals and to show off his amazing flying skills.

This book is an excellent motivator for anyone who has ever felt the pressure of a setback or who wishes to be more determined and persistent in their goals. The author provides excellent examples of perseverance and determination, all while designing the book to capture and hold a child’s attention.

About the Author
Adrian M. Hurtado was born in Berkeley, California, and grew up in the East Bay. He has over 25 years of experience as a teacher and principal in Orange County, Los Angeles County, and Santa Barbara County, California.

Adrian also served in the Marine Corps and the Air Force Reserve before retiring as a major. He and his wife, Jean, a former kindergarten teacher and his biggest supporter, have retired to Cayucos, California, where he is active in community service.
