Jacksonville, FL – WEBWIRE

Dr. Larry Carnes welcomes Dr. Joyce Willard Teal as a guest on his “Book of the Month” show to discuss Dr. Teal’s successful book “The Tree That Told a Tale,” which will appear on Tuesday, January 31st, at 3:00 p.m. EST.

Dr. Joyce Willard Teal creatively weaves an inspiring and informative story of how a tree called Tanza, together with its tree parts became a way for children and adults to learn more about the rise of the Civil Rights era as well as Black History. Set in 1963, the tree’s characters witness racial tension heightening in Alabama, and the 16th Street Baptist Church was bombed.

During a TV interview with Dr. Larry Carnes at the Books of the Month Show, Author Dr. Joyce Willard Teal recounts what inspired her to write her book. As an advocate for learning, having taught for about thirty years as a teacher, Dr. Teal saw the importance of spreading the awareness of Black History and the importance of trees to the readers.

Despite being a children’s book, the author recommends readers of all ages be immersed in the story.

“If you have children, do purchase a copy of the book. And don’t just read it for yourself, read it with them. Because I believe that inspiring children to learn about the Civil Rights era will be something that will be with them for the rest of their lives,” says Dr. Teal.

“To have lived during those times surely has impacted my life personally. So, thank you so much for dedicating your life to educating our children and to value where we are,” adds Dr. Carnes.
