Experience Bruce Beryl Fisher’s Compelling Novel at the LibLearnX 2023

Bruce Beryl Fisher’s book “Taking the Short Bus: Teacher, I Need You” gives a whole new meaning to what it is like to face life with a learning disorder and with a history of severe emotional distress.

Fans of “Taking the Short Bus” can view the book as it is scheduled to be displayed at the LibLearnX: The Library Learning Experience (LLX) 2023. Formerly called the American Library Association (ALA) Midwinter Meeting, the LibLearnX will take place this coming January 27-30, 2023, at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, Louisiana. The event is open to ALA members and non-members.

Participants at LibLearnX can look forward to special programs and events, hands-on workshops, famous industry speakers, award ceremonies, and exhibitions, all geared toward the future of libraries and their communities. Self-publishing company ReadersMagnet will join the LLX Marketplace exhibitions and is set to exhibit Bruce Beryl Fisher’s “Taking the Short Bus.”

“Taking the Short Bus” is set in the aftermath of the Vietnam war era. The book tells the story of 18-year-old Eric Blum, a student at the Noah Webster Preparatory, who suffers from dyslexia and an emotional breakdown following the death of his brother in Vietnam. The story narrates how Eric endeavors to prove to the school that he is qualified to graduate and take the SAT exam for college. The plot turns interesting as Eric falls in love with his history teacher, Carole Schor.

Author Bio

Bruce Beryl Fisher was born in Philadelphia. He wrote the novel based on his experience of the Philadelphia school system in the 1960s and 1970s.

Bruce used to work as a studio stage manager for Whitney Houston, Cyndi Lauper, and the Bee Gees. He was also a set dresser for the film The Perez Family with Marisa Tomei and Anjelica Huston. Bruce currently works as a stagehand with the International Alliance of Theater Stage Employees in Miami, Florida. He resides in Hollywood, Florida.
