Carrefour Brasil Group opens first phase of Alto das Nações multipurpose complex

The company’s real estate project is premised on increasing the density of its real estate portfolio sites

The Carrefour Brasil Group, through its business and real estate management unit, Carrefour Property, has just opened the first phase of the Alto das Nações complex, a project developed in partnership with the developer WTorre.

“Alto das Nações is a major milestone in the history of the Carrefour Brasil Group. In addition to being the largest retail group in South America, and the largest private employer in the country, we also show our strength in the real estate area, with an innovative project, monetizing and adding value to the company’s assets,” says Stephane Maquaire, CEO of the Group in Brazil.

Built on the site of the first Carrefour hypermarket in Brazil, which was opened in 1975, on Avenida Unidas, on the Berrini/Chucri Zaidan axis, in the city of São Paulo, the project is a multipurpose complex covering 320,000 m², composed of mixed, residential, and commercial towers, a new, modern Carrefour hypermarket and the Paseo Alto das Nações, a new mall that will be managed by Carrefour Property.

“With more than 5,000 m² of Gross Lettable Area and more than 40 stores, the shopping center, Paseo Alto das Nações, provides convenience, service, leisure, and gastronomy options to meet the needs of hypermarket customers and residents and users of the complex,” explains Liliane Dutra, CEO of Carrefour Property.

“This new mall will create about 250 new jobs, contributing to the country’s economy, in addition to benefitting society not only from the point of view of services but also practicality, where it is possible to take care of different everyday needs in one space,” adds Liliane.

A forecasted 14,000 people a day are expected to visit the Alto das Nações complex during the week, frequenting the mixed tower, the hypermarket, and Paseo Alto das Nações. It is worth mentioning that major retailers are operating at the mall, such as Cobasi, O Boticário, Outback, Loterias Caixa, and Spoleto, to name a few.

With an estimated overall sales value of R$3 billion, 60% of which to come from the commercial tower, it is the first initiative by the Carrefour Brasil Group to use Carrefour Property’s real estate expertise to monetize its land and further enhance the company’s assets.  Eztec will be responsible for selling the high-end residential tower, JFL for mixed-use, and Altre Investimentos will be responsible for the commercial tower.

Project Phases

The Alto das Nações complex will be delivered in three phases:

  • Phase 1: a new, modern Carrefour hypermarket, the Paseo Alto das Nações Shopping Centre, and the mixed tower
  • Phase 2: in 2023, a park will be delivered to residents and clients of the complex and the complex will be connected to the Granja Julieta train station
  • Phase 3: by 2026, the corporate and residential towers will be opened

New Carrefour Hypermarket

The new hypermarket will have 15,000 m² of floorspace, with 7,500 m² of it being for retail and 700 covered parking spaces. The new unit offers the best that Carrefour has for customers, with a drugstore, Carrefour Card, Self-Check Out - where customers complete payment of purchases themselves – and e-commerce, which offers:

  • In-Store Picking, where the products purchased via e-commerce and/or the My Carrefour app are taken from the shelves in that store and available to customers within 2 hours
  • Click & Pick-up: format consisting of purchases made via e-commerce and/or the My Carrefour app, in which customers choose to pick up from the store
  • Partner Deliveries: made by partners, such as Rappi, Cornershop, and iFood.

The new hypermarket will also have a large assortment of more than 44,000 products in sections such as Healthy, Your Bar, Perfumery, Children’s Space, Perishables, and so on, plus a Food Court with hamburgers, pizzas, a cafeteria, snack bar, sushi, and pastries.

The Carrefour Drugstore will offer new options in Hygiene and Beauty, with the best imported perfumes on the market. No other Carrefour Drugstore in Brazil offers this. In addition, drugstore products can also be purchased via e-commerce and/or the My Carrefour app, in the same shopping cart as products from the market, offering customers more convenience.
