“I look back on that time with fond memories. The friendships we built have stood the test of time. Every time I go home, I look forward to reconnecting with the gang.” Robert Ross Williams

Robert Ross Williams’ “Woodlawn Giants” was exhibited by the self-publishing company ReadersMagnet at two prestigious book events. The first event was the ReadersMagnet Book Confab in Tribeca, held last October 28-30, 2022. The next one was the New York Library Association (NYLA) 2022 Annual Conference & Trade Show, held last November 3-4, 2022, at the Saratoga Springs City Center, New York.

The Book Confab provided a venue for authors to share their stories and interact with the readers. At the same time, the NYLA 2022 offered an opportunity for people (academics, librarians, writers, and readers) to show support for the New York library community and services. Author Robert Ross William’s memoir “Woodlawn Giants” was showcased during the book exhibitions of these events, together with other prominent books.

“Woodlawn Giants” is an enthralling autobiography inspired by Robert Ross Williams’ childhood growing up in West Memphis, Arkansas. The book starts by describing a scene where the author’s father and a man named “Mr. Rick” were planting some pine trees. These pine trees, all grown up and still standing tall, represented the author’s childhood friends. The book describes some of the author’s childhood adventures, including the changes within the landscape of West Memphis over the years.

“Woodlawn Giants” is an indulging narrative of childhood memories and a must-read for those who long for a glimpse of an era that was laidback and filled with simple pleasures in life.
