Robert Ross Williams’ Memoir Shows Why Nothing Compares to Childhood Memories

The author fondly recalls how the place looked back then and all the changes in this city that natives jokingly refer to as “Left Memphis.” Readers are also introduced to the colorful and wonderful characters that helped shape the author’s life.

Robert Ross Williams was born in 1960 in Memphis, Tennessee, and lived in South Memphis on Latham Street for a short time. His family then moved to West Memphis, Arkansas, west across the Mississippi River, and set up shop at 621 East Woodlawn. Robert is a retired army officer with a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Memphis and an M.A. in Russian studies from Florida State University.
