Darcele Robinson’s “Kaygan’s Adventure: Surprise at 5” was exhibited by ReadersMagnet at the New York Library Association (NYLA) 2022 Annual Conference & Trade Show last November 3 to 4, 2022 at the Saratoga Springs City Center, 522 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, New York.

Children tend to dream and imagine a lot of things. Their creative young minds are active and have always been curious about a lot of things. And this is what the soon-to-be 5-year-old little girl Kaygan has been doing five days before her 5th birthday.

Kaygan has dreamed of a lot of things that she wants to see at her birthday party. The child can’t contain her excitement and keeps on asking everyone in the neighborhood if they knew about her grandmother’s plan for her party. However, no one seems to know about it. But before Kaygan lose hope, there appeared the big birthday surprise that she has been waiting for. The little child was surprised by a big SURPRISE birthday party.

The adorable story of Kaygan had the reader’s heart flutter because of her cuteness and the way the author did some various wordplay and rhyming of words in the narrations.

This picture book is a perfect read for the age group of 3 years and up. It motivates the children to dream big and not limit their imaginations - letting them become free thinkers and be creative in their own way.

Author Bio

Darcele Marie Cole-Robinson, AAS. BSW, lives in Flint, Michigan. She is a graduate of Flint Northern High School, Class of 1984 and she graduated with her BSW from the University of Michigan-Flint. Darcele is now attending the University of Kentucky where she is pursuing her Master’s in Social Work and Clinicals. She has been married for 30 years to her highschool sweetheart, Kenneth Robinson Sr., and they have three children; two boys (Kenneth and Kaleb) and a daughter (Khyra). Darcele has spontaneously worked in the community with her nonprofit organization, Love Foundation, which was established in 2015.
