“…I meant those other people. A Snapshot Memoir of an HIV Tester" results from Corella Payne’s education and compassion.”

Decades have passed since the virus that causes HIV disease have come, and mostly faded, from the social and public eye. The lack of social awareness or interest hardly means the epidemic is over. HIV /AIDS remains a public health issue and an endemic public health concern, and many people living with the virus still experience discrimination, hostility, isolation, and even violence. The disease is no longer a conversation opener nor at the forefront of social media, news, or awareness. Corella Payne’s “…I meant those other people. A Snapshot Memoir of an HIV Tester” is grounded by these facts.

It is still important for people to know about HIV/AIDS. Accurate and updated information go a long way to dispel stigma, ignorance, and harmful misinformation. Author Corella Payne had informative, uncomfortable, and eye-opening talks while working as an educator. She wants her readers to find inspiration as well as conversation through her book by reconsidering how their sexual activities affect their well-being and that of others.

Readers of Payne’s book will learn that the HIV epidemic is far from over. HIV/AIDS can only be eradicated with accessible and affordable treatment, and with the understanding of those social, racial, and gender disparities that exacerbate the already existing challenges of people with HIV being treated equally, and fairly.

“…I meant those other people. A Snapshot Memoir of an HIV Tester” results from Corella Payne’s education and compassion. The book aims to effect profound change, making a case for more outstanding public education and empathy. Be part of the ripple of sound change. Grab a copy of Corella Payne’s book on Amazon.
