“I love reading about Revelations and Post-Rapture. This book has a great storyline along with the facts that Carter discovers. It portrays a very relatable current life/situation we are a part of.” – Barnes & Noble Review

Debra Fossum’s “Who Were They?” was featured at the New York Library Association (NYLA) 2022 Annual Conference & Trade Show last November 3-4, 2022, at the Saratoga Springs City Center, Saratoga Springs, New York.

“Who Were They?” shows the world in post-rapture. The book’s plot is centered around the Reformers wanting to get rid of Christians and dominate the world with their beliefs. Christians are deprived of their rights. They are not allowed to share and proclaim their beliefs in public and teach other people. Donations for their churches are closely tracked. They are denied, persecuted, and ridiculed everywhere. The Reformers are pleased with it.

However, one day, all Christians suddenly disappear without any trace. This is where Carter Riley enters the scene. He has a good reputation and is known through his published articles on the world of natural law, human nature, and secularism. Since he is a highly sought-after lecturer, the government takes interest in him and tasks him to investigate and locate these “missing Christians” so they can exterminate all of them as soon as possible.

Carter knows he is the perfect candidate for this job. He believes that mankind does not need God anymore and that science can easily perform miracles. One of his beliefs is that morality is man-based and that moral values change as cultures change. He hates those who use religious reasoning rather than basing it on sound scientific research.

Carter is determined to make this project successful, for reasons not to please the Reformers but because he believes if he can find out how the Christians disappear, maybe they can also make other groups of undesirables disappear. However, his search is stopped when a sudden phenomenon happens, causing food shortages and even violence. He then meets James, who explains everything to him about things he never imagines are connected.

Debra Fossum enjoys life in North Dakota with her three daughters, two sons-in-law, and five grandchildren just a short distance away. The Lord spent two years urging Debra to quit her day job and go back to writing. When He provided a windfall to live on, she could no longer ignore God’s plan for her life. As she gave top priority to writing this book, the devil also prioritized to stopping her. One distraction after another pulled her away from her writing. It was only by digging deep into God’s Word that she was able to receive the strength and confidence she needed to stay the course.
