Glenda Gambill Shares an Amazing Story That Will Capture the Attention of Young Pet Lovers
“Alex’s Birthday Surprises” is a wonderful children’s book about a little boy who wanted to own a pet. This amazing story together with its colorful illustrations is relatable to children and even to adults who might want to revive some of their past childhood experiences.
The story follows Alex a little mischievous seven-year-old boy who is an only child. Since it is summertime and his friends are on vacation, he is very bored because he has no one to play with. So, he decides that he will ask his parents if he can get a new pet to play with for his birthday which will be here soon. Alex’s parents discuss with him over dinner some of the pets he has had in the past and also what sort of pet he would want for his birthday. They came up with suggestions to Alex that if he would be responsible for his new pet, then he will very likely get one. Since Alex seems to prefer a pet dog for his birthday, they suggested that he might practice taking care of his aunt’s little Yorkshire terrier while she is out of town over the weekend. Alex thinks this is a good idea and agrees to do it.
