Lee Halverson’s Book Illuminated at NYLA 2022 Annual Conference and Trade Show

From January 1969 through December 1970, Lee Halverson was a member of the United States Army. Lee shares his war stories, called “Cong Catchers,” with the world. The book’s protagonist, a young guy with Christian aspirations, is thrust into a perilous setting: a war zone. This young man avoided quick fixes and instead spent his time fixing up orphanages, coordinating football games, chugging Coke, and staying off drugs.

In this book, readers will meet many of the people Lee served with and gain insight into how they kept going despite overwhelming odds. These young men served their country honorably, but when they returned home, they found a cold reception.
