“We do need more volunteers.” Jamie Pulos-Fry

Why volunteer? What does it take to be a volunteer? What benefits does a Christian get from volunteering? Jamie Pulos-Fry answers the questions, as well as expands on the subject in her guidebook “Servants Heart: From the Voice of a Volunteer” (Blurb; 2018).

Though the Bible frequently praises the virtue of helping those in need, which is the essence of volunteering, and Christians are called to serve others, not many books have been written about volunteering in a Christian environment. The author helps fill the void with the religion and spirituality book “Servants Heart: From the Voice of a Volunteer.”

The author has a servant’s heart by serving in her church and the college where she volunteers. She discusses in her book the reasons for and the benefits of volunteering and lists the qualities that a would-be volunteer should have, such as faithfulness, helpfulness, willingness to learn, and impartiality. “This book is about being the best volunteer that God would like you to be,” the author said.

Through her impactful book, the author hopes to address the issues faced by many volunteers and would-be volunteers and her readers grow their servants’ hearts and open themselves to mission. After all, volunteering is mission.
