“This story is very timely! I like the illustrations. It reflects the author’s concern and care for the environment and his goal to reach many young people by telling the story in three languages.” – Amazon Review

Author Claude Alain Solliard grew up in Saviese, Switzerland, and moved to New York as a young chef to work at some of the city’s most celebrated restaurants. He is an avid runner who trains for the New York City Marathon by running and biking in Central Park and all over the city. It was during these daily runs that he grew frustrated with the amount of trash he encountered carelessly tossed everywhere. This is when he started and founded the “Pick It Up Please” trash awareness cause. As his friend Serge Durka suggested, he starts by teaching children how to respect the environment and establish better habits for the future. Thus, he created the story “Marcelin and Marcy: Two Elephants for a Cleaner World” (BookBaby; 2022).

“Marcelin and Marcy” is a children’s book filled with beautiful colored illustrations. The book, translated into three languages, English, French, and Spanish, centers around the lives of the two elephants, Marcelin and Marcy, who strive to make the world a better place by picking up trash and cleaning the litter in their neighborhood.

However, no matter how diligent they are in picking up trash, Marcelin and Marcy still struggle with keeping their community clean. But then, they soon find out the underlying cause of their problem. They discover that picking up trash is not enough to keep their neighborhood clean. So what are they going to do? Will they just give up? Or will they encourage everyone to help them?

Claude Alain Solliard’s “Marcelin and Marcy: Two Elephants for a Cleaner World” is an impactful story that teaches environmental lessons to children. Order a copy of the book on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
