“You don’t have to turn out perfect to have a purpose.”

The children’s book “Lucas the Lamb” by Duane Whitely was last displayed at New York Library Association (NYLA) 2022 Annual Conference & Trade Show on November 3 to 4, 2022 held at Saratoga Springs City Center, 522 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY.

“Lucas the Lamb” tells a lovely tale of a little lamb who is a survivor of quadruple birth. In the first part of the story, the author narrates the struggle of a Suffolk lamb not having enough milk to tend to her little lambs. This leads the farmer to a decision asking one of his workers to take the other two lambs and there, Lucas was left on the farm.

Lucas was not like other lambs, he falls short in various aspects which made him different and might be weird to some. He may look like a clumsy little lamb to everyone, but Lucas is more than that. The lovely part of this story is how the author turns all of Lucas’ weaknesses and imperfections into his strength.

Negative self-image is one of the common problems that most people struggled with today and this is something that people need to overcome. Insecurities can hinder a lot of potentials and limit one’s capabilities and this book is all about encouraging the readers that no matter how different you are, you still have an important role in this world.
