James Mitchum Oates was born on Oct. 19, 1975 in Chicago, IL. When he was six-years-old, he moved to Kansas City, MO. with his mother, father, and two brothers. He graduated from Van Horn High School in 1994. From there he went to Penn Valley Community College and obtained his Associate’s Degree in General Business Arts in 2004. Then he attended Park University and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice/Corrections in 2007. He is the author of multiple books. He is also single with no children.
