Daiso Japan to Open 40th Store in Southern California 

Daiso, Japan’s favorite retailer, is pleased to announce the grand opening of its fortieth Southern California store. The Downey Daiso store will open for business on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. with grand opening promotions for early shoppers throughout the entire weekend. The store invites members of the community to celebrate at 8970 Apollo Way, Suite A10, Downey, CA 90242.

Daiso’s Expansion in the U.S.
The grand opening of the Downey Daiso marks the Japanese retailer’s 40th store to open in Southern California, the 58th Daiso store in all of California, and the chain’s 88th store in the United States. The number 88 is auspicious in Asian cultures and the company plans to open additional stores in the coming months including Henderson, Nevada and the very first Arizona Daiso.

The 5,500 square foot retail store will feature the company’s signature brand products including Holiday gifts, decor and entertaining, school supplies, kitchenware, beauty supplies, stationery, gift wrap, greeting cards, electronics accessories, organizing and home goods, novelty items, party favors and Asian snacks. Customers shop Daiso for the incredible value and to find new surprises at every visit.

Japanese Quality and Kawaii Finds
Daiso products are the subject of countless “haul” videos with shoppers flooding the web with how-to videos and tutorials using Daiso products. Social media favorites include cosmetics/beauty products, craft and slime, Bento box supplies and ingredients, home/office organization and products that are described as kawaii (cute). Fans can shop Disney, Sanrio, Rilakkuma and other character products. The stores’ grand opening celebrations often draw lines that snake around the building.
