Health is the most important thing that human beings have, and without it, we cannot do anything in life. If you feel exhausted and your body deserves a break, listening to it is important to ensure a longer, healthier work and personal life. JD Duarte, a veteran business expert and entrepreneur, explains how to avoid burnout in order to keep the business going.

Working to be useful and independent is something that everyone sees in a positive way, but, when you feel pressured, the work suffers. The output may be there, but the physical and mental overload is going to take its toll.

There are many people between the ages of 25 and 45 who suffer from work-related stress, and who do not realize this problem and think it is normal. You may have everything that makes a person happy, but if you don’t have time to enjoy it, you live stressed about getting more and more. Maybe you’re working 12 hours a day, or more, to be able to buy food or household necessities. There will come a time when the stress and burden you have can make you sick.

One of the main tips is to analyze your current work situation and concerns. Explains Duarte, “You have to figure out what causes you stress and exhaustion. Perhaps you have an excessive workload, or you need to work more for money. Work stress is often caused by performing exhausting tasks, many hours in one place, problems with co-workers, salary problems and payments of basic household needs. There are several factors that influence job burnout. It is necessary to locate the cause before doing anything else.”

If you detect that the problem is your own job, look for the possibility of changing it. Consider philosophically what would happen if you quit your job. Look for family communication or communication with bosses. Work cannot be slavery.

Sometimes, doing some physical activity helps to clear the mind and relax the tension and muscles of the body. Also, you can do artistic activities such as painting or writing. They are factors that help to clear the mind and open up to new horizons, perhaps reading magazines, self-help books or entrepreneurship make you turn on the light bulb of ideas.

If you manage to talk to your family, co-workers or bosses and still fail to relieve the burdens or stress. It is advisable to go to a specialist in this type of pathology. It may be that you are suffering from anxiety or other disorders and do not realize it.

Beyond what employees express, it is also convenient to use data analysis tools to identify problems more objectively. For example, if there is a way to measure productivity per hour, you may be able to identify in which periods the greatest conflicts are being generated and take action on the matter.

It is usually also recommended that spaces be adapted in the office for relaxation and rest of employees. So, they can take short breaks and distract themselves a little to resume their activities with better concentration.

The ideal characteristics of rest spaces vary depending on the tasks carried out in the company. Although for most office jobs, having a comfortable room where we can simply sit and rest and clear our minds, or an outdoor space where we can get fresh air and regain courage from time to time is enough to notice a real change and improve productivity in the company.

It is better to have six effective hours of concentration and work in optimal conditions than eight hours forced to be working with high wear and stress, which ultimately reduces productivity.

Work is an essential part of life, but enjoying free time and taking care of your health is priceless. If you’re in a place you don’t like, leave. And really see what makes you happy.
