Suspense Novel Explores Love and Perspective

“Ted and May are meant for each other. Ted just needs to understand.”

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada – WEBWIRE

J. D. Robertson’s new novel, May and Ted,” is a story about passion. It’s about conditional and unconditional love. And it’s about what a person will do to make things right.

Beginning in 1973, the story of May and Ted starts with the innocence of childhood, peppered with disturbing moments of abuse and bullying. It’s clear that May has some issues, but she does come by them honestly. Her Uncle Jake has a habit of molesting little girls. And May’s mother? Well, she’s just another piece of work.

Ted is a simple kid who loves his mom, school and May, mostly, if she’s being nice. He’s really smart and gets put in special classes. The teachers love him. May hates that. It isn’t until high school, when Ted falls in love with David and May realizes what she needs to do to ‘save’ him, that May’s obsession changes their lives forever.

This story is a character-driven suspense novel told from May’s perspective and Ted’s perspective, each of which can be very different. There’s sex, violence and just enough humour to keep it from getting too dark.

J. D. Robertson is a retired corporate writer. She lives in Edmonton, Alberta, with her puggle, Charlee, and her husband, Bill. “May and Ted” is her first novel.
