WALTHAM, Mass. - Phase Forward, a leading provider of data management solutions for clinical trials and drug safety, has teamed up with the MGH Institute of Health Professions, an academic affiliate of Massachusetts General Hospital, to provide hands-on seminars and online courseware as part of the MGH Institute’s online Graduate Program in Clinical Investigation. The MGH Institute offers both a Master of Science and a Certificate of Advanced Study in clinical investigation, in addition to several other post-baccalaureate programs in allied health fields.

After meeting with school officials, Phase Forward training professionals worked on a pro bono basis to customize course materials, presentations and demos tailored for graduate students at the MGH Institute. Students will also have access to Phase Forward’s online training materials. This week, a Phase Forward trainer will present an introductory seminar on electronic data capture (EDC) and data management methods. Students will be able to gain practical, first-hand experience with technologies used in clinical investigation through the use of Phase Forward’s InForm™ EDC product.

“Our relationship with Phase Forward helps us to meet one of the key objectives of our Clinical Investigation program – to give students real-world experience with the types of technology they will be using on the job,” said James Parmentier, PhD, Associate Professor, Graduate Program in Clinical Investigation at the MGH Institute. “We’re pleased to be able to offer our students access to state-of-the-art software and experts who have trained professionals at some of the leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies around the world.”

“It’s our privilege to partner with the MGH Institute, which offers one of the first Clinical Investigation programs in the country,” said Pam Randhawa, vice president of marketing, Phase Forward. “Tremendous advances in clinical research are possible in the next decade, and we want to help ensure that the next generation of professionals has a strong educational foundation to carry that work forward.”

The mission of the MGH Institute’s Graduate Program in Clinical Investigation is to prepare multidisciplinary health care professionals for a variety of roles in the design and conduct of human research. The program offers rigorous courses taught by faculty actively engaged in clinical research. Forty-one graduate students residing in 10 states are currently enrolled online in the master’s or certificate program.
