Germany’s Ethernet WAN specialist TeraGate deploys Alcatel-Lucent IP solution to enhance business service delivery

Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that Munich-based Ethernet WAN specialist, TeraGate, has deployed Alcatel-Lucent’s IP solution as the foundation of its Ethernet VPN service introduction to corporate customers in Germany and around the world. As a result, TeraGate is able to introduce advanced new services to the market that differentiate the operator based on their unique customer-driven interactivity.

The Alcatel-Lucent MPLS solution is the basis for TeraGate’s delivery of Virtual Private LAN services (VPLS) to its client base, which includes major organizations such as banking, insurance and financial services organizations, governments, and large, multi-site corporations. It provides TeraGate a cost-effective and scalable Ethernet/IP-based platform that offers unparalleled levels of service assurance, quality of service (QoS) and customization, enabling TeraGate to meet stringent Service Level Agreements and giving the operator a clear edge in a competitive marketplace.

TeraGate selected the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router (SR), 7450 Ethernet Service Switch (ESS) and 5620 Service Aware Manager (SAM). Alcatel-Lucent is also providing TeraGate with managed services, including field services, Level 2 and 3 support, network operations and 24/7 monitoring.

Alcatel-Lucent’s IP solution is ideally suited to TeraGate’s customers. The new product line TeraGate IntelligentEthernet® enables point-to-multipoint connections for linking multiple company sites or data centers.

Using the Alcatel-Lucent solution TeraGate is now able to deliver multiple services in different service levels to one customer with complete transparency. Furthermore Teragate’s customers can proactively track QoS and regulate bandwidth on their own. The customer web portal “TeraWeb“, exclusively developed by Alcatel-Lucent for TeraGate, gives TeraGate’s customers the freedom to modify services and adapt bandwidth according to organizational demands. The MPLS network also serves as the basis for further value added services like VoIP, video streaming and on-demand services.
