WeTransfer Announces Winners of $100,000 Emerging Creative Hubs Grant Program

WeTransfer, a leading provider of creative productivity tools announced today announced the winners of its Emerging Creative Hubs Grant Program. These winners are nonprofits who have demonstrated the value they bring to their creative communities. Each of the 10 grant recipients are based in one of the cities identified through WeTransfer’s Emerging Creative Hubs Index.

As a certified B Corporation on a mission to use business as a force for good, WeTransfer is motivated to help these kinds of critical nonprofits reach their goals and empower the creatives within these communities. After months of deliberation over numerous incredibly thoughtful applications, WeTransfer is excited to share the winners of this new grant.

The 10 Emerging Creative Hubs Grant recipients are:

  • ChopArt (Atlanta): ChopArt provides dignity, opportunity, and community to middle and high school aged youth experiencing homelessness through arts immersion and mentorship. Their grant funding will support the expansion of the Arts Leadership Academy. 
  • re:imagine/ATL (Atlanta): re:imagine/ATL trains, equips, and inspires Generation Z (ages 11 - 24) to build careers in the creative and digital media industries. With an emphasis on diversity and inclusion, they offer young creatives exposure, training, and career placement to improve economic mobility. Their grant funding will go directly to this workforce development pipeline. 
  • Artists for Humanity (Boston): AFH is built on the philosophy that engagement in the creative process is a powerful force for social change, and that creative entrepreneurship is a productive and life-changing opportunity for young people no matter their economic, racial, or social status. Their grant funding will be invested in a new gamification project within the Creative Technology studio. 
  • Hawaii Theatre Center (Honolulu): The Hawaii Theatre Center delivers unique and important services to the diverse community of Oahu, both as a presenter and as a performing arts venue for a broad range of entertainment, cultural and educational opportunities.
  • Urban Community Arts Network (Madison): Urban Community Arts Network (UCAN) is dedicated to supporting sustainability in the Madison Hip-Hop community and advocating for equity in the local arts and entertainment. Their grant funding will help them expand and continue their popular Mad Lit program. 
  • Cazateatro Bilingual Theater Group (Memphis): The only bilingual theater community organization in Tennessee, Cazateatro was founded with the mission of spreading and sharing the Hispanic culture through performing arts to create a uniting bridge for our diverse community, emphasizing the importance of being bilingual and to show the richness of such a diverse community. Their funding will directly support their Dia de los Muertos event as well as ensure their free community programs can continue. 
  • Turnip Green Creative Reuse (Nashville): Turnip Green has established itself as an affordable and accessible art space for all through our “name your price” reuse art materials and free after school care. Their grant funding will help to expand and support their family-focused class offerings. 
  • The Muse Writers Center (Norfolk): The Muse Writers Center fosters and celebrates the literary arts throughout the community through high-quality education, networking, and support for aspiring and experienced writers of all ages, backgrounds, and means. Their grant funding will be put directly into their Youth Program. 
  • Spy Hop Productions (Salt Lake City): Spy Hop’s mission is to mentor young people in the digital media arts to help them find their voice, tell their stories, and be empowered to affect positive change in their lives, their communities, and the world. Their grant funding will help make this year’s Youth Voices Summit and Spy Hop’s Heatwave Festival one of the best yet. 
  • Luminaria (San Antonio): Luminaria is a dynamic nonprofit arts organization dedicated to producing and promoting the arts of San Antonio, Texas. Their grant funding will be put into their yearly Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival which serves as an inspiration for the whole community.
