Landmark film series Age of Change: The business of survival launches today
Presented by WWF and content partners the series, produced by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions, uncovers the stories of innovative solutions across the global business community that address critical environmental challenges and shares diverse success stories
From today a new landmark film series, produced by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions, will showcase the incredible stories of businesses that are leading radical and innovative new efforts to secure a nature-positive future for our planet.
Entitled Age of Change: The business of survival, the beautiful films feature some of the exciting ways that WWF is collaborating with partners, in addition to shining a spotlight on an array of ambitious work that is being done around the world - from reforestation in Uganda to wetland restoration in Hong Kong, as well as the creation of butterfly biospheres in Mexico and water conservation communities on the River Ganges. It also showcases some of the incredible individuals that are pioneering passion and purpose to tackle the twin crises of nature loss and climate change.
WWF’s aim is to help make the world nature-positive by 2030 – that is, to be living in a world with more nature than is in the world today. It’s an ambitious goal that needs governments, business and civil society to work together and transform the ways that we think, eat, produce, consume and live, all around the world.
Age of Change comes as governments from around the world gear up to negotiate the details of a new ‘Paris-style’ agreement for nature. Set to bring world leaders together later this year in Canada, the CoP15 global biodiversity summit is a chance to reset our broken relationship with the natural world and deliver a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
Simon Shelley, Vice President of BBC StoryWorks, Programme Partnerships, said: “The global business community has a pivotal role in securing a nature-positive future for our planet. Like other parts of society, they have to turn rhetoric into action and this series sets out to understand the habits, actions and transformations from private corporations that have the potential to create environmental change at scale. This is just the start, and we’re excited at BBC Studios for our global audiences to engage with these stories with the aim of inspiring others to drive change, in what truly has to be the ‘age of change’.”
Felicity Glennie-Holmes, Executive Director of Communications and Marketing at WWF International, said: “Age of Change: The business of survival is an inspirational set of films with a serious message: without big change from the business sector we won’t be able to secure a nature-positive future for our planet. Working with BBC StoryWorks is a wonderful opportunity to showcase how vital it is that decision-makers, professionals, and individuals responsible for driving change across industries and sectors, are aware of the critical challenges we are facing, and feel empowered to act. It is still within our grasp to make the difference that we need to restore and live in harmony with the natural world…. but as this film series shows, we must take action now.”
The new series, Age of Change: The business of survival will be live for one year from 5th July 2022. Audiences will be able to explore “Age of Change: The business of survival” via www.ageofchangeseries.co.uk. Additional stories will be joining the series in November 2022.
