Indoor Environmental Quality Plays a Key Role for California Residents Celebrating National Healthy Homes Month

LA Testing provides laboratory services, sampling supplies, test kits, air monitoring instruments and home inspection tools to help create a healthy indoor environment for families.

Huntington Beach, California – WEBWIRE

In 2016, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) inaugurated the first National Healthy Homes Month (NHHM). The month of recognition takes place each year in June and the theme for this year’s event is “A Healthy Home at Any Age.”

NHHM brings together HUD’s partners, including grantees, community-based and faith-based organizations, industry, state, tribal, local governments, health care providers, and many others, around two common goals. Coordinated by the agency’s Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes (OLHCHH), HUD aims to:

  1. Increase awareness of housing-related health hazards, lead poisoning prevention and the overall principles of a healthy home, especially for low-income populations, and
  2. To encourage residents to take steps for safe and healthy homes.

“HUD is offering online resources about lead, radon, asthma, allergies, carbon monoxide and pest management,” said Michael Chapman, Laboratory Manager of LA Testing’s Huntington Beach facility. “At LA Testing we support the efforts of National Healthy Homes Month by offering laboratory services, sampling supplies and easy-to-use test kits to identify these, and other, common exposure risks found all too often in homes across California. We also carry building inspection tools and air monitoring instruments to identify a wide range of microbial, chemical and radiological hazards.”

Several years ago, LA Testing even sponsored an educational video about National Healthy Homes Month that can still be seen at: https://youtu.be/RPIHUSiuDsg
