Latest Offerings Enable Better Content Management for Small Businesses

LAS VEGAS (InfoComm, Booth #401), June 8, 2005 - Expanding its networking options for its PlasmaPro™ and LCD display line-up, Sony Electronics is introducing two network media players.

The new BKM-FW50 and EBS-N200D offerings join a line-up that provides networking applications to meet the needs of business and education customers, including videoconferencing and digital signage.

“The environment for networked content and control of information displays is cluttered with solutions that are incomplete or very expensive to install and maintain,” said Neal Goldsmith, professional display product manager for Sony Electronics. “With the growth of digital signage in recent years, businesses are now demanding manageable, cost effective networking systems and we offer a broad range of solutions.”

A practical networking solution, the new BKM-FW50 Network Media Card is easily integrated into a slot on Sony’s FWD-42PV1 professional display, providing network status and control as well as streaming video and media to displays over an IP network.

The BKM-FW50 Network Media Card also helps reduce expensive content applications and personnel costs associated with specially trained technicians, making it ideal for use by the small/medium-sized business owner looking to upgrade their professional display systems while lowering their operating costs.

Users can now create content using industry standard development applications for JPEG images and MPEG 2 video and have non-technical staff easily disseminate that content on displays. The BKM-FW50 also includes a CompactFlash® memory slot to display JPEG images in an easy, self starting slideshow mode accompanied by MP3 audio files serving as background music to the presentation.

Sony is also introducing the latest iteration of the EBS-N200D Network Media Player. Designed to work with Sony’s PlasmaPro and LCD display line-up, this new player delivers streaming content or local playback to one or many displays across a standard IP network.

Created to work in a large corporate or hospitality environment with remote display needs, such as lobby signage and training, the unit operates on a single installation location with one or many displays when connected to standard IP network equipment. It also includes a remote view feature that allows for wireless conference room meetings and classroom presentations. Content for the displays can be created using industry standard applications.

Additional features on the EBS-N200D Network Media Player include:

* Real time streaming and decoding of MPEG 4/2/1 files up to 10 Mbps;
* 2.0GB onboard storage;
* MS PowerPoint viewer for easy digital signage creation; and
* MacroMedia Flash enabled web sites and stand alone flash capability.

The EBS-N200D Network Media Player will be available in mid-July for about $950. The BKM-FW50 Network Media Card will be available in September for about $700.
