Dennis Cawthorne Chronicles His Contributions to More Than a Half Century of Life on Mackinac Island in His New Book Edition

“Mackinac Island: Inside, Up Close, and Personal” lays out the impressive progress of Mackinac Island over the years, which could be useful points to ponder for other sovereign places in their social, economic, and political affairs.

East Lansing, Michigan – WEBWIRE

With Dennis Cawthorne’s more than half-a-century of close association with Mackinac Island, he gives remarkably informative and insightful details about the splendid life being enjoyed by the island’s tourists and residents, which shaped its politics, tourism, culture, and lifestyle among others. The book, “Mackinac Island: Inside, Up Close, and Personal,” was an impressive part memoir, part history, and part chronicle that faithfully reflected on the author’s progressive roles from being a carriage driver, chamber of commerce manager, state legislator, restaurateur, attorney, legislative advocate, and for over twenty years, a member and chairman of the Mackinac Island State Park Commission.

“Mackinac Island: Inside, Up Close, and Personal” narrated Dennis Cawthorne’s first-hand experience with a few unanticipated events that tried and molded the island such as the presidential visits, murder, fire, taxing situation, land theft, the Great Ferry Wars of 2010-2014, and blackout as well as the inspiring and fulfilling ones such as the presidential visits, creating the governor’s residence, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and its corresponding adequate funding, the city, and the seasonal traditions, noting the island as a “place like no other.”

The book is a recommended reading for those state and organizational political and economic leaders, particularly those who are intertwined with the development of tourism.
