“Head to Head With Jezebel” Author Says the Current Hillsong Church Scandals Are a Clarion Call for Realignment for the Church
With scandal after scandal relating to the Hillsong Church rolling via Social Media feeds daily. Wisdom Mupudzi, author of “Head to Head with Jezebel,” says: “This is a sign that the whole mega church movement must come back to Re Alignment, or back to the basics, where its about God. No one deserves to be abused in any way, shape or form by a church system or religious institution.”
Following the release of the documentary “Hillsong: A Megachurch Exposed” and all the ensuing church leadership issues, there are a lot of reviews and opinions around it. Whilst not completely shocked by the scandals and allegations, Award Winning Author Wisdom Mupudzi said: “When I wrote ‘Head to Head with Jezebel’ many years ago, I knew there were a lot of instances of abuse within many churches. This was whether small church or big church.”
“‘Head to Head with Jezebel’ was written to empower the church goer to be on the look out for certain things and also to have certain boundaries,” said Mupudzi.
“Many people are feeling hurt or disappointed by the church system, but it doesn’t have to be that way. People have to remember that there is no perfect church, however, churches can put in place mechanisms and systems to ensure that everyone feels safe. In the unfortunate event that there is abuse of any kind especially sexual, it must be reported to the very top of the organization and acted upon to ensure that the grieved party or parties can receive justice and the matter resolved. Of course there are laws that may differ per jurisdiction, country to country, however the fundamental thing is those abused must be heard and remediative action taken. No one should go to church and get raped, abused or violated in any way shape or form. People go to church to be in the presence of God and to receive the word of God,” Mupudzi explained.
The book “Head to Head With Jezebel” covers many issues regarding church leadership as well as many other warnings signs when it comes to abuse within a romantic relationship.
