Mike Broker Pens Book on the Fit Financial Approach to Taking Care of Health and Wealth
The author’s passion project gives him a platform to convey empowerment, knowledge, and direction to individuals who want to take extra steps in their fitness and financial journeys.
“Fitness and wealth are something you can build easily into your lifestyle if you just build the habits one at a time and you don’t try and bite off more than you can chew.” Mike Broker, CFP®, CPT
For the increasing number of Americans who are overweight and underfunded, it’s important they build fitness and wealth habits into their lifestyles… one book at a time, starting with “Fit Financial Approach: The Candid Truth About Being Fit in BOTH Health & Wealth” by Mike Broker, CFP®, CPT.
Mike Broker is in the unique position of professionally seeing and utilizing the overlap between fitness and wealth to help Americans understand and reach for their goals in both areas of their lives. “My goal is to help you be fit physically and mentally,” the author wrote in the preface of his book.
What led the author to help people become both healthy and wealthy for a fuller life - and write “Fit Financial Approach?” He talked about his journey in Morgan James Publishing Monthly Virtual Book Launch Series.
“I was in a traumatic accident when I was 12 years old,” said Broker. “That shaped me to where I received a little bit of money and lost a lot of it in the market. I also inherited some back problems that I had to figure out how to deal with in my life. With both of those, I ended up being pushed towards health and wealth.
“I became a personal trainer so I could learn how to keep myself fit and realistically the only reason was so I could learn how to manage my back issues. When going through the problems in the market at the time when I inherited some money from this car accident, I went to a financial advisor and fell in love with the finance industry. I saw what he did for me and my parents and I said ‘Yes, this is what I want to do with my life.’”
The author sees the need for people to “have an appropriate fitness level in both health and wealth to live a full life while working and in retirement.” He urges his audience to start evaluating what’s important now and in the future, emphasizing that while their financial goals are mostly attainable, they should be healthy enough to enjoy them. It’s time to treat health and wealth as shared endeavors in which one cannot do without the other. Health and wealth work hand-in-hand.
“Health and wealth can fit into a busy life. You can build these habits along with being busy. You don’t have to set aside hours to be in the gym. You don’t have to set aside days to plan your future. We can fit it in. You have to define what health and wealth mean for you because everyone’s going to be a little bit different.”
The author rues that financial literacy is at all-time lows and health issues become more prevalent and more serious, despite greater access to information. He hopes that “Fit Financial Approach” will help his readers understand and bridge the connection between health and wealth.
“I feel like a word is missing. That’s why this is the candid truth. It’s very direct. I tried to keep the book simple and keep it to the basics that would actually work in both health and wealth.”
