Author and Licensed Therapist, Cora Butler-Jones Presents a Whimsical Story that Will Remind Children About the Importance of Obedience

WEBWIRE

“The Kitty, the Wind, and the Magic Umbrella” is a whimsical tale that will reinforce the obedience and the importance of following rules. The story follows Kate and his little brother, Aiden as they went on a perilous misadventure in an attempt to save a kitty—a cat they found on Christmas eve. The kitty was happy, deeply grateful, and connected to the family. They took her in and out of the snow after being properly delivered to us on Christmas day with the fireplace a glow. The kitty was also kept clean, given lots of yummy food, was adorned with a big red bow. The family tried to find the kitty’s home, but they did not find it.

On one evening, Kate and Aiden were told to go to bed on time. However, as they lie to catch sleep, the howling wind and cracking sounds made them curious about what was happening. To their surprise, they witnessed an extraordinarily frightening thing—and the worse, the cat went out in the cold and desolate outdoors. In an effort to rescue Kitty, the pair disobeyed their parents and headed outside. With a flashlight, bright-yellow raincoats, and a magical, antique umbrella, they braved the cold, snowy outdoors.

But will this lead them to an adventure? Or to a lesson?

Dr. Butler-Jones is a lecturer, college professor, and mother of two daughters, one of her daughters is a lawyer, the other a teacher.

The topics she taught in college are social work (graduate level) and sociology, marketing, and management (undergraduate level). Dr. Butler-Jones is very interested in gene-related anomalies such as albinism, red hair, vitiligo, etc. This author has family members that have some of these characteristics.

She became interested in Tanzania many years ago, when she learned of the level of starvation among infants in Tanzania during its rise to independence. She was more intrigued when she discovered the country’s role of albinism and their level of suffering from the climate and the people around them.

The assaults of nature (climate sun and heat) and mankind (cutting of limbs by locals under) did not make the person with albinism shrink back and recoil. There are 1:1,400 people with albinism living in Tanzania.

This book reviews and explores what led to the level of discrimination that has contributed to the resilience and related perseverance of a person with albinism. Their survival and perseverance have started a civil rights movement among them, which fuels their survival.
