Yat Announces Partnership with Opera to Ditch Dot Com

The online identity company is integrating its emoji identity system with Opera’s browser, bringing emoj-only based web addresses into existence.

Nashville, TN – WEBWIRE

Nashville, Tenn. (February 14, 2022) -- Yat, the company transforming online identities through personalized emojis, today announced its partnership with Opera, the multi-platform web browser used by hundreds of millions of users worldwide. Yats have been integrated across Opera desktop and mobile browsers, becoming the first browser to enable emoji-only based web addresses. For the first time in the history of the internet, users will be able to navigate the web by entering only emojis into the URL bar.

“The partnership marks a major paradigm shift in the way the internet works,” says Damian Trelka, Head of Opera desktop browser. “It’s been almost 30 years since the world wide web launched to the public, and people still include .com in their URLs. Through our integration with Yat, Opera users will be able to ditch .com and instead use only emojis to be directed to websites.”

The integration makes it easier for anyone on the internet to find and be directed to Yat pages, which are unique domains that are generated when a Yat is created from a personalized string of emojis. Users can customize their Yat page or redirect it to anywhere else on the web. For example, Lil Wayne’s (👽🎵) Yat page directs users to his record label… Before the integration, to be navigated to a Yat page, users had to type in their emojis followed by “.y.at.” Now, the nearly 400 million people who use Opera can type in emojis directly in the URL bar to be directed to the corresponding Yat page.

For example, instead of typing in “👽🎵.y.at,” Opera users can insert 👽🎵into their mobile and desktop browsers to get to Lil Wayne’s record label.

Opera took the integration a step further by enabling emojis embedded on web pages to link to the corresponding Yat page automatically. As a result, more web traffic for Yat users. So, any time Disclosure’s Yat 😎🎵😎is featured anywhere on the internet (including this press release), it automatically links to their Yat page.

“Whether you’re an artist, musician, creator, business owner, or just want to increase your following, this integration is invaluable, making it easier for you to connect and share content with your community through your Yat page,” said Naveen Jain, co-founder, and CEO of Yat. “This integration is a testament to Opera’s continued innovation in the web browser space. We are thrilled to be partnering with them to make URLs more user-friendly and expressive while giving yat creators more visibility on the web.”

The integration is equally about functionality as it is expression. Instead of typing in numerous alphanumeric characters into a URL, Yat’s integration with Opera grants users the ability to express themselves through their homes on the web. Your website can be 🔥🐉 instead of www.johnsmith24356.com. With over 90% of the 4.6 billion internet users around the globe using emojis to express themselves every day, Yat’s integration with Opera unlocks a new easy way for people to express themselves through their URLs.

Yat and Opera are launching a scavenger hunt to celebrate the integration’s launch.  Participants will incorporate the new integration to compete for seven commissioned Fvck Crystals NFTs from legendary NFT artist Fvckrender valued at a floor price of 2.89 Ethereum or $8907 at the time of writing. Additional details on the contest are outlined below:

  • Each day, The Puzzlemaster, a character from the Yativerse, will reveal a clue sending players on a hunt across various websites looking for a string of emojis to solve the riddle.

  • The first to correctly solve the riddle will be rewarded with a Fvckcrystal NFT.

  • Players can also win the contest more than once!
