Color your way through stress with the therapeutic power of the creative mind.

“Nose Guy” (Book Baby, 2021) by Ryan Langford will be featured at the LA Times Festival of Books in Spring 2022. This book is designed to help with anxiety, depression, and stress through humor, happy imagery, and positive affirmations that may be slightly ridiculous but are relatable. The pages are filled with diverse themes, ranging from facing their fears to learning how to turn a bad day around into a good one. It’s a great read for anyone who wants to spend their day distressing with a child-like smile on their face as they enjoy their coloring session.

The author’s philosophy, as told through “Nose Guy,” is to learn the difference between ignorance and perseverance in the face of adversity. As a former mental health patient, Langford hopes that this coloring book will bring comfort to those who suffer from severe mental illnesses and that even when the storm clouds their mind. He hopes this piece of narrative will help them from moving forward.

What’s more, the back of the book includes a glossary that goes over all of the different stories and jokes included in the book, making it simple to find whatever story readers are looking for. Langford’s “Nose Guy” is similar to any adult coloring book that relieves stress in the same manner that meditation does by allowing the mind to rest after they (i.e., specifically mentally-ill patients) have been subjected to a great deal of stress.
