The international open access peer review journal Telehealth and Medicine Today (THMToday) is excited to welcome its LATAM Regional Editor, Jefferson G. Fernandes, MD, MSc, PhD, MBA. Dr. Fernandes will help steer the journal’s trajectory in LATAM, to amplify awareness, local engagement, and increase submissions from the region, further enhancing the journal’s commitment to bibliodiversity.

Dr. Fernandes is a Neurologist experienced in health management, education, research, and digital health innovation, including telemedicine and the Director of the Education Program of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH), CH. He is Vice President of the Brazilian Association of Telemedicine and Telehealth (ABTms), Coordinator of the Telemedicine and Digital Health Education Program of the Medical Association of São Paulo (APM), and President of the APM International Global Summit Telemedicine & Digital Health. He is Professor and Academic Coordinator of the MBA Health Management and Innovation, IBCMED – SP, and previously served as editorial board member of Telehealth and Medicine Today. He is also the CEO of SPECIS, a Health Consulting Firm. Dr. Fernandes has also consulted for the World Health Organization (Geneva), World Bank (Washington), the Brazilian Ministry of Health (Brasília), and Health Secretary of the Rio Grande do Sul State.

Specializing in Neurology, Dr. Jefferson received his medical degree at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), and the Institute of Neurology, University of London, England. Dr. Fernandes has an MSc in Neuroanatomy and a PhD in Clinical Medicine from UFRGS. He has a postgraduate degree in Hospital Administration and Health Business (IAHCS/PUCRS) and MBA focused on Strategic Management and Information Technology (FGV).

The journal has a partial and full waiver policy for researchers that do not have means to pay APC fee to ensure global geographic inclusion of relevant content and expects to announce a PubMed and Web of Science acceptance by year’s end.
