Nearpod Introduces Nearpod Math, A New Supplemental Curriculum that Expands What’s Possible in the Classroom with Exclusive Digital Content and Tools

Nearpod, a teacher-centric, interactive instructional platform that gives teachers real-time insights into student learning, today introduces Nearpod Math, a first of its kind supplemental curriculum for K-8 educators. Nearpod Math maximizes the platform’s functionality, adding 5,000 math-specific supplemental interactive lessons, activities, tools and more, to make it easier for educators to tailor learning experiences.

U.S. math performance has been a point of concern for years. Even before the pandemic in 2019, only 41% of fourth-graders, 34% of eighth-graders and 24% of 12th graders scored at or above the proficient level in mathematics, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). More alarming still, student test scores have remained stagnant over the last 15 years, according to the NAEP, which shows a widening gap between higher- and lower-achieving students. The pandemic only exacerbated this, as evidenced by a Renaissance study of spring 2021 test scores that analyzed nearly 3.3 million children in grades 1-8 who have taken Star Assessments since fall 2019. On average, students were 11 percentile points lower in math than expected, compared to pre-pandemic expectations.

With over 44 million lessons delivered via Nearpod in 2021, the platform is now helping educators address achievement gaps due to interrupted learning with Nearpod Math. This offering provides greater organization for educators, with an easily searchable library featuring thousands of lessons and activities that are aligned to state and national standards or to the scope and sequence of various core curricula. This new supplemental content maps to existing Nearpod collections such as Digital Citizenship & Literacy and Social & Emotional Learning.
