San Diego, CA, USA – WEBWIRE

The author talks about the architectural projects he had worked on in his career, especially projects that have impacted the African-American communities.

What better way to leave behind a legacy of work than to write a book? Ronald Lee Harden did just that by publishing “Untold Architectural Black History of Tampa, Florida: My 36-Year Architectural Career in Tampa” (ReadersMagnet).

In his book, the author not only reflects on his three-decade-plus career in architecture but also revisits the projects he had worked on – architectural projects that have benefited the African-American communities of Tampa, Florida, a city that is 23.6% black (US Census estimates, 2019).

The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, Gaither and Bloomingdale High Schools, the Harbour Island project, Mobley Park, and Osbourne Landing Apartments are just a few of the projects that the author had worked on in his long architectural career. These edifices have helped the community of Tampa expand both economically and culturally in 36 years. These projects have helped create homes, jobs, and cultural events for the African-American and other mixed communities in the city, and have helped them create better lives for themselves.

The edifices that the author talks about in his impactful book will educate readers about what buildings could say about the society that produced them, the era they were built, and the culture they represent. The book tells how these edifices have impacted the different communities of Tampa, most especially the black communities, and how valuable they are up to the present.
