South Florida Martial Arts School to Offer Free Class on Child Safety, Abduction Awareness

WEBWIRE

DEERFIELD BEACH, FL -- This year alone, there will be over 55,000 non-family abductions in the United States. Additionally, 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 10 boys will be sexually abused before they reach adulthood.

In response to these startling statistics, the ATA Black Belt Academy of Deerfield will be hosting a free child safety day on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. The Safety NET Kids seminar is designed to teach how to recognize common ploys and dangerous situations often faced by children.

“This seminar will be an invaluable resource for the children who attend,” said John Peek, owner and head instructor of the Taekwondo club.

“We encourage parents and their children to take advantage of this free class,” he added.

The teaching methods to be used will be geared towards children aged 4 – 11 and speak to a child’s understanding without instilling fear. Instead, the goal is to provide confidence and awareness.

As part of the American Taekwondo Association, ATA Black Belt Academy of Deerfield is located on Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach, FL.
