New collaboration with Fotografiska to show the power of innovation in fashion

WEBWIRE

In a brand new two-year collaboration, H&M Foundation and Stiftelsen Fotografiska explore the power of communication and inspirational stories to spark action towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We want to highlight stories of transformation and hope which is so important to change mindsets of what is possible.

Every day we are getting closer to 2030 and the deadline for the UN Sustainable Development Goals that were set up to safeguard humanity and the planet. And although there is progress in some areas, it’s not advancing at the speed or scale required. We are now in the Decade of Action, and the urgency tells us that it’s time to find new ways of accelerating the change. We believe that communication plays a central role in this.

H&M Foundation and Stiftelsen Fotografiska both believe in the power of communication and were curious about how we together could shed light on various societal issues in an innovative and unexpected way.
During this first year of the collaboration, we focus on what a planet positive fashion industry can look like through an exhibition at Fotografiska Stockholm. The main exhibition is with the visual artist Tobias Gremmler. In his scenographic media exhibition, Gremmler takes us on a mind-blowing journey to picture a world where garments can actually grow on human skin. In a constantly changing room, he opens up a space dedicated to the endless possibilities of innovation.

As a complement to the main exhibition running from December to April, H&M Foundation and Stiftelsen Fotografiska have built an inspiration room during the opening weekend – The Future is Here – where game-changing innovations are presented showing planet positive solutions that already exist. We want to show that fashion can have a positive impact on the planet and the hopeful transformation that has begun. The Future is Here will be showcased at Fotografiska Stockholm December 4-5, and made available online for anyone to experience from mid-December onwards.

Next year, the spotlight will be on our work for inclusive societies.
