Barnes & Noble Announces Mind the Gap as Their Inaugural Game of the Season

Barnes & Noble today announced Mind the Gap as its inaugural Game of the Season. The Barnes & Noble Game of the Season will join the Barnes & Noble Book Clubs, Discover Debut Authors, Monthly Picks, Children’s and YA Book Awards, and Book of the Year program to highlight the books and games that booksellers are the most excited about.

“We are excited to name Mind the Gap as our first ever Game of the Season,” says Marnie Lawrence, Senior Director, Toys and Games, Barnes & Noble. “Mind the Gap is such fun for everyone, a brilliantly entertaining trivia game that’s perfect for multigenerational gatherings. It is fantastic to see members of different generations work together to answer pop-culture questions about each other’s generations.  It’s the perfect game for holiday gatherings! We are confident players will enjoy this game as much as we all did.”

Mind the Gap challenges players to team up to answer pop culture trivia from different categories, including TV shows, movies, music, slang terminology, and news-worthy events, in order to race around the board the fastest and win the game.

“We were shocked when we first heard that we had been selected. For a small game company to get the attention of Barnes & Noble is amazing. We are absolutely thrilled about this. We had probably a half-hour dance party in the office when we got the news,” said the creators of Mind the Gap, SolidRoots. “We’re so excited that other people are enjoying Mind the Gap because we created it for our family. Our grandparents love to play games and our teenagers love to play games and finding a game that both those groups enjoy can be really difficult, especially trivia. Having those moments where Grandma gets to talk about what she used to do growing up and then having the 16-year-old swoop in and be recognized by the rest of the family for the things she knows is what makes this game so special. So, we’re glad other people are as entertained as our family.”
