Peter Freis Scrutinizes the Injustice of an Inadequate Justice System in the Relaunch of his Book “Thicket of Thought”

Lady Justice is an allegorical personification of the moral force in judicial systems. She wears a blindfold to signify her fairness and equality. No person, position, social status, or opinion should sway the scales in her hand. She must remain just and reasonable. However, outside circumstances and incompetence can sway and tip her scales against an innocent man. In a flawed justice system, many men and women suffer and lose valuable years of their lives over wrongful convictions. Such is the story into which Peter Freis immerses us.
 
In the book, “Thicket of Thought: Speculation,” Freis scrutinizes the incompetence of the country’s justice system. He will lead us through to the futile struggle of Christopher and his family, a man who was incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. Accused of molesting a minor by an adult who said he remembered a one-time incident some two decades before he reported his painful memory. Chris’s life was zapped out of his body. An overall excellent and kind person was now destined to spend his life behind bars.
 
The book is a quick but enthralling read. It exposes the inadequacies of an incompetent court that often rely on prejudice to trump up charges. The book opens the eyes of readers as it effectively invokes the right emotions. Freis has shown the hardships of people who are fighting for their freedom in the face of a preconceived judgment. He effectively narrated the contrasts in Chris’s life, before and after incarceration, which greatly amplified the message of the book. More so, despite the heavy emotion and the heartbreaking story of a good man who had his life stolen from him by injustice, Freis broadcasts an important message: deception can never destroy a love shared between family and friends.
 
Indeed, the book will provoke thoughts and will destroy the stigma we normally have for people behind bars. We should be more thoughtful. Some deserve to be there, but some are just there because someone wrongfully tipped the scale of justice.
