Sandy Harlan, a Retired United Methodist Deacon, Offers Her Two Cents on Modern-day America’s Faith and the Issues That Plague It

Contemporary Faith in America, and The God of Jesus of Nazareth

Indianapolis, IN – WEBWIRE

Sandy Harlan’s debut book “The God Nobody Knows,” pans the lens toward the faith of contemporary America and its quagmires. She takes special effort to provide new historical and linguistic views on the disciples, Jesus’ statements, and the Israel of Christ’s day.

In the second edition of her book, Harlan reveals the autobiographical flavor of her story, but goes beyond autobiography to expressing how modern Christianity in America affects her heart, particularly the hypocrisy and infighting she has observed within today’s churches, and how these difficulties restrict Christians’ knowledge of who God truly is.

“Harlan is careful to never be too abrasive, accusatory, or overtly political, but she also refuses to shy away from calling out contradictory conservative viewpoints on war and poverty in America. She often addresses the reader directly and in the second person, writing like a passionate friend with strong convictions who is respectfully calling for reason, inclusiveness, and fresh perspectives on well-known doctrine. Carefully and thoughtfully constructed arguments about contemporary Christianity and the questions believers should ask themselves in today’s world.” – An excerpt from Kirkus’s review.

The book is a fresh take that challenges the knowledge of believers and church leaders on the real identity of God. “The God Nobody Knows.”
