In November 1961 he left Malta to come to the United States on the invitation of the Provincial of the Western Dominican Province. After one year at the Dominican parish in Berkeley, CA, he was transferred to the Dominican parish in Los Angeles (Eagle Rock) as Associate Pastor and part-time Newman Chaplain for Occidental College. It was there he began his Catholic campus ministry journey.

After seven years in Los Angeles, Fr. Albert was appointed Student Master for the Dominican students in Oakland, CA for two years and then transferred to the Newman Center serving the University of California, Riverside. He was then appointed by Bishop Straling as the Director of Adult Faith Formation and of the Charismatic Renewal after four years in campus ministry. Fr. Albert then went on to serve as the Pastor of the Newman Center serving Arizona State University in Tempe, the University of Oregon in Eugene, the University of Arizona in Tucson, and the University of Nevada Las Vegas over 49 years before finally retiring.

Besides ministering in various campuses Fr. Albert was involved in local, regional, and national activities of campus ministers.
