Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, has signed a four-year Brazilian Air Force contract to provide logistical support for the FAB’s 16 Black Hawk UH-60L helicopters. The contract will enhance fleet support, resulting from local storage of commonly needed spare parts, assistance from a regional Sikorsky field service technician and direct technical support from Sikorsky Engineering.

“We are grateful to the Brazilian Air Force for choosing Sikorsky to provide the highest level of logistical support for its Black Hawk helicopter fleet,” said Felipe Benvegnu, director of sustainment business development at Sikorsky. “Local spare parts storage will eliminate the long lead times for materials that would keep an aircraft on the ground. Close collaboration with Sikorsky engineers, whether virtual or in person, will also help Air Force maintainers improve the readiness rates of these utility aircraft for important missions such as search and rescue"

The Brazilian Air Force acquired its 16 Black Hawk aircraft via FMS (“Foreign Military Sales”) between 2006 and 2013.

The Air Force contract follows the model of a multi-year logistical support agreement between Sikorsky and the Brazilian Army. In 2019, after previous contracts with the Army, the flight availability rate of the four Black Hawk aircraft of the Army S-70A (UH-60L equivalent) reached 100 percent.
