Allan MacKillop appointed Disability and Access Ambassador for the creative industries

Allan MacKillop, the BBC’s Disability Workforce Strategy Lead, has been appointed the Disability and Access Ambassador for the creative industries.

The appointment was announced by The Cabinet Office Disability Unit on behalf of Justin Tomlinson, the Minister for Disabled People, Health And Work. Allan is one of 12 new Disability and Access Ambassadors helping to ensure that businesses are doing all that they can to support their disabled customers and employees.

Allan is responsible for developing and driving forward disability workforce-related strategies across the BBC to support both disabled staff and users of BBC Services. Allan has spoken about the BBC’s disability strategy at conferences, including Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Diversity and Inclusion Leaders, Disability Rights UK and the Business Disability Forum. Away from work, Allan is also a trustee of the charity AudioVisibility, which supports and champions the interests of deaf musicians.

The Ambassador role is a voluntary post, undertaken for a maximum of three years, designed to help drive improvements in the accessibility and quality of services and facilities in the creative industries for disabled people, as consumers and employees.
