SATURDAY, MAY 28: THE BIGGEST JAZZ FESTIVAL

Profile America Saturday, May 28th. Musicians from around the U.S. and countries from Poland to Guatemala have gathered in Sacramento, California, for the annual jazz jubilee, on now through Memorial Day. More than 100-thousand clapping, stomping fans are expected to groove on the sounds of 100 bands, playing in 40 different locations. The focus is on American traditional jazz, but the festival also includes ragtime, gospel and barbershop singing as well as special children’s concerts. The roster of musical groups includes 16 youth bands. Some 11 percent of the adult population attends a live jazz performance at least once a year, and 3 percent of record sales are for jazz titles.
