Yonkers City School District Brings Nearpod’s Interactive Platform to 39 Schools and Over 26,000 Students

Nearpod, the leading instructional platform that merges formative assessment and dynamic media, today announces a partnership with Yonkers City School District. The platform will serve as a resource for the districts’ 26,000 K-12 students. 

With this partnership, Yonkers Public Schools will receive access to Nearpod’s content library, which features over 15,000 standards-aligned lessons, videos and activities. Educators can also upload their own lessons from Google Slides or Powerpoint, YouTube videos or their own videos, all of which are customizable with the platform’s interactive features like quizzes and polls, simulations and Virtual Reality Field Trips. The platform seamlessly integrates with Yonkers’ existing technology infrastructure, including Microsoft Teams and Clever. 

In addition to the core platform offering, Yonkers educators also receive access to: 

• Historical Perspectives and Literacy, a premium collection that provides culturally relevant, inquiry-based social studies experiences that feature both immersive media and primary sources.

• Nearpod English Learners, which provides scaffolded access to rigorous and research-based, grade-level learning experiences and language instruction.

• Social and Emotional Learning to support teachers in building positive, safe and empowering class communities.

• Digital Citizenship and Literacy curriculum that supports instruction in computer science including coding, applications of technology, digital safety and media literacy 

• College and Career Exploration creates opportunities for students to discover higher education and career possibilities after graduation.

The Yonkers City School District recently developed a plan to become an information center for teaching in remote/hybrid learning environments (TRLE). Known as the Rethink K12 Education Models Project for the City of Yonkers, this program was created in partnership with the New York State Education Department and includes a three-year grant to rapidly deploy resources to address teaching and learning during remote and hybrid instruction. 

This new program is strengthened by the district’s partnership with Nearpod, which works with any device and allows for single-click lesson deployment, making it simple for students. The platform also features both synchronous and asynchronous lesson mode.
