Punchh Co-Founder Raises $3M in Seed Funding for the “VIPKid of Yoga” with 15X Revenue Growth

MyYogaTeacher, the company bringing on-demand, interactive yoga into people’s homes with expert teachers, today announces a successful $3M seed round led by TSVC with participation from Leonis Investissement, Weekend Fund, All Access Fund, Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments (BDMI). The funding comes as the company sees massive membership growth that drove a 15X increase in revenue over the last 12 months.

“Our growth over the last 12 to 18 months is phenomenal and while some of it is due to COVID we’ve made deep inroads with students not well served by traditional studios before the lockdown,” says Jitendra Gupta, MyYogaTeacher’s CEO and co-founder. “People who feel self-conscious, who need help with a particular ailment like a bad back or knees, and those looking for a deeper connection to yoga’s traditional roots are driving a 20% monthly growth in membership much of which is independent of the pandemic.”

Gupta co-founded Punchh, the AI-driven restaurant loyalty program provider that recently sold for $500M, and turned to yoga as a way to relieve stress from the hard-driving startup environment. His search to improve his physical and mental wellbeing was literally life-changing as he turned the experience into his next company.

The heart of MyYogaTeacher is the student-teacher connection that Gupta found during his yoga journey. The app streams interactive, on-demand group and one-on-one lessons from the most experienced yoga teachers on the planet - directly from India - to students in the U.S. Students can build long-term connections with specific teachers and track their progress with a personalized roadmap.

Students can choose from dozens of teachers who are doctors of yoga, yoga therapists, and teachers with over 900 hours of training and decades of experience. Students can also choose nearly every type of yoga and schedule 1-on-1 sessions that fit into their schedules.
