BrandShield Unveils VaxFax, a New Site That Takes Down Fake COVID-19 Products and Vaccines in 24 hours or Less Using Crowd Wisdom

BrandShield (LSE: BRSD), an online threat hunting company specialized in monitoring, detecting, and removing online threats, today launched VaxFax, the first crowdsourced site letting anyone submit fake vaccine websites, social postings, and marketplace listings to keep others from falling victim. 

BrandShield will now pair the crowdsourced data with its proprietary library of data sources and AI /ML capabilities to detect threats in real-time. If people come across online advertisements, social media posts, websites, or listings on e-commerce sites that offer to sell them a vaccine, they can report suspicious links here: https://l.brandshield.com/vaxfax. After users report fraudulent sites and BrandShield has verified them, VaxFax can remove them in 24 hours or less. 

The launch of VaxFax comes as suspicious COVID-19 vaccine web listings and social media posts have exploded since the beginning of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in the United States. In a recent report, BrandShield found that suspicious websites are increasing 2100% month-over-month throughout the start of 2021. The company has also scanned well over 20,000 suspicious social media posts.

The sophistication of these cyber-attacks has posed a real problem for members of the general public eager to expedite the process of getting a COVID-19 vaccine. Notable instances of fraud include organizations creating websites claiming to offer vials of brand name vaccines approved by the FDA, websites impersonating online pharmacies, and social media posts offering vaccine sales containing images of brand name vaccine vials.
