Building Safety Month in Puerto Rico and the Role of Indoor Environmental Quality

May is recognized as Building Safety Month and following the COVID-19 pandemic, which temporarily shut down millions of buildings across the globe, and caused many others to change the way they operate, building safety is more important than ever.
 
This year’s theme is “Prevent, Prepare, Protect. Building Codes Save.” Building Safety Month is supported by the nonprofit International Code Council and many other partners. A major area of focus during the month of recognition includes educating people about the need to be prepared for natural disasters. In recent years in Puerto Rico, this has included everything from a pandemic to tropical storms and hurricanes.
