Pre-school children emulate what their parent(s) say, do, and reinforce. This nurturing in the first five years of life deeply impacts the internal structure of the child’s brain – cognitively and emotionally – a critical foundation which impacts the rest of life.

As the child enters and goes through the K-12 system, the parent(s) role is to help him or her adjust to this new, expansive, and ever-changing learning environment, a wider breadth of community contacts, and deal with the youth’s growing physical and emotional body -- including the desire for more independence.

The parent(s) observe their compliant. loving children turn into an adolescent, then teenager, and high school graduate, ready for job hunting or further education. Parent(s) face many personal adjustments in these shifting time-zones of life. Although the son or daughter may or may not live in the same home after high school graduation, there are vital connections (degrees of bonding) that can and should continue in the following decades.

Draayer presents, “Powerful Potential of Parent(s): A Child’s First, Best, and Only Lifelong Teacher,” as a Handbook 2nd Edition to encourage and help parent(s) continue meaningful family ties in all phases of life’s transitions.

As a teacher, principal, superintendent, adjunct professor, national educational leader, and consultant across the country, Dr. Draayer fully understands that a school system is powerful, but at best, can only be secondary to the parent(s) when it comes to influencing the whole of a child’s life.

This handbook will present an opportunity for every parent (and parent-to-be) to engage and better contribute to their child’s development through all stages of life. It is also streamlined by Draayer’s word choice. Written in simple prose, readers will find it conducive to discussion, comprehension, and learning.

Every parent should take charge and use their potential to effectively influence their children, one generation to the next. We owe it to them, ourselves, our neighbors, and all of humankind.
