About the Author
Andreen Henry, the author of “Nature at Its Best,” was a brilliant student on the Honor Roll at a New York High School. However, at the age of sixteen she was diagnosed as a schizophrenic which resulted in her dropping out of school before she was able to graduate. There after she spent most of her years battling this terrible disease in different mental institutions. However, she had an unusual talent for writing and she used it as her hobby to write poems, and one of them was “Nature at Its Best.” Though she could hardly function mentally, she decided to have, even one of her poems illustrated into a book form. Her love for children made her to choose “Nature at Its Best” for children. By the time she got it published she was battling cancer as well. With the help of her mother and coauthor, Lucille McIntosh, she lived long enough to see her dream come true. She was so thrilled when she held that first copy of her book in her hand, knowing that she accomplished her goal while battling two of the most dreaded diseases, schizophrenia and cancer. She passed away six months later, at the age of 42.
