Guotai Junan Securities Asset Management and Bloomberg to Cooperate on Financial Technology and Data Management

Guotai Junan Securities Asset Management (” GTJA AM “) and Bloomberg today jointly announced a cooperation on financial technology innovations to support the asset manager’s digital transformation.

GTJA AM will use Bloomberg’s supply chain data and Data License Plus (“DL+”), a hosted data management solution, to enhance the firm’s investment and research capabilities. GTJA AM is the first Chinese financial institution to implement Bloomberg DL+ across the enterprise. Both companies have also agreed to explore other areas of cooperation, such as deploying Bloomberg data and technology in GTJA AM’s trading and risk management businesses.

In April 2021, GTJA AM obtained a license from the China Securities Regulatory Commission for its foray into the domestic mutual fund industry.

Bloomberg DL+ will help GTJA AM aggregate, organize, and link relevant data, so that its data analysts can visualize and explore the data through a web-based user interface, extracting more value from the data. As a scalable managed service, DL+ allows GTJA AM to immediately benefit from new Bloomberg content sets and ongoing product development driven by the demands of Bloomberg’s global client base. DL+ uses data management best practices to distribute Bloomberg data to systems, applications and users.

As the first project of the cooperation, GTJA AM will use Bloomberg’s supply chain dataset to expand its investment and research coverage. GTJA AM has laid out a strategy to enhance its investment and research capability using more quantitative factors for investment alpha. Bloomberg data will help the firm’s research analysts understand companies along the global supply chain better, by analyzing their competitive strengths and stakeholder relationships.
